I need your advice on how to rebuild my credit. Seven years ago I was over my head in credit card debt and went to CCCS for help. I paid back every cent of debt

Qualifying renters who do not have a credit card must leave a cash deposit for their rental. All cash rentals, including prepayments, vouchers, and the like: $50/day, with a maximum of $200/week will be collected in addition to the pre-calculated rental charges. (At Connecticut locations: $100/day with a maximum of $500 per week). When the rental car is returned in accordance with the rental terms and conditions, the cash deposit will be refunded. Doesn't sound like thousands, does it? Travelers' checks, to my knowledge, are treated like cash.

Thanks, Joan, good info. However, it doesn't mention the insurance issue... I believe all rental companies put a large hold on your card if you decline to buy their insurance. I wonder how they'd handle this in a cash rental situation? Or would you be forced to buy insurance if you're paying cash for the rental? I've never had that experience. Ever. And I never buy their insurance (because my auto insurance duplicates it). I've rented from Hertz, Alamo, Dollar, and Enterprise at various times in the last year. I even paid with cash, once. Which agency did this with you, and when?
