I just got rid of my 99 R/T CC and got a 00 GT verte. The R/T will put power to the rear. The 3.92's are the secret. I had no problem beating any stock Stang's as long as I launched with minimum wheelspin. The R/T is ass end light like most trucks and you need to feather it a little if you want to launch decent. I would usually get it rolling a little and then nail it. With the R/T you need to get that big hole shot, cause you run out of rpm's quick. The 360 has gobs of torque in the low end, but looses big after 4000 rpm. The 3.92's kill it there. IMHO the Stang GT is a better all around driver than the R/T. The R/T suspension is pretty stiff and will really toss you around. The R/T will follow any little rut or pothole in the road. The truck never feels out of control, but it will feel on the edge at times. After 100 miles in the new 00 GT verte, I find my self liking the Stang better and better. However maybe some steeper gears in the rear end.............................

5 speed. The R/T is cool. It's a real shame that you can't get it with a five speed.

1999 automatic tranny GT a run, but the best quarter mile run I've ever seen for an R/T was 15.4 sec at around 90 mph with a 0-60 at 7.0sec. A 1999 GT runs (in the usually conservative Motor Trend) at 14.1 qtr @99.2mph... That would CREAM an R/T by several car lengths. The GT convertible is a bit slower, but still solidly in the 14s. A 1996 GT 5sp with just 215hp could still manage sub 7 second 0-60 times. Don't get me wrong.. I like the R/T a lot... It's a cool truck but it's not going to beat a well driven GT coupe 5 speed.
