I've been with Interland (originally HostPro) forever as my Web hosting company, and now it's time to find a better hosting company. I didn't want to deal with having to move my entire site and make sure the _script_s work on the new site, etc., but Interland has just frustrated me so much that it's time to make the switch. I'm looking for a hosting company that is inexpensive (i.e., $25/month for a site), has excellent up-time, bandwidth speed and back ups, and gives you instant control over all the features on your site, i.e., like with Interland I wanted to set up a password-protected FTP directory that my clients could use to send me big files, and after waiting days for a response from them, found out I can't do that without giving the FTP users the overall site's FTP password, which would give them access to the entire site. I want a Web hosting company that caters to Web masters who develop their own HTML and want the latest technology and want to have instant control to manipulate the features on their site. I don't want a Web hosting company that caters to the total beginner, such as Interland, that have a Site builder ... easily create a site without having to know HTML! So that's why I thought I'd check with other Web masters: What would be the consensus top 3 web hosting companies among Web masters? I'm not looking for individual recommendations, such as I use webhostingripoff.com, and they're great!! I'm more curious to know which are the top three Web hosting companies that are the most well-known and respected among Web masters? I figure that would be a good place to start my hunt for a new Web hosting company.
