A few months back {before the greedy, Power-Ranger promoters at WUTV/Fox 29 removed Sailor Moon in order to carry one more line of trash with a high-octane toy marketing campaign} a friend of mine banned SM from her home, on the pretext that it was promoting Witchcraft. While I can't excuse the woman's anti-Pagan bias, I can see the point. We have here a group of extremely powerful women who have it within themselves to control and use the forces of nature. I think it may be why the whole program got cancelled

What do you think? Have we a modern mythology made up of a new interpretation of ancient pantheons, and that might have more meaning to some of us than the more mainstream ways of understanding and honoring the Divine? I think that happens quite often. Mythology contains the oldest archetypes of god/goddess like creatures. Reinterpreting these archtypes into modern media is a reoccuring phenomena, conciously or not. So, sure...

The only problem I see with the afraid of the powerful female theory is that every episode, a male (Tuxedo Mask) comes to bail them out. It is always moral and physical support, instead of letting them do their thing. In view of this, it is possible that femenists wanted this show gone, as it showed the girls needing a man's help. Anyone think I may have a point?

The only problem I see with the afraid of the powerful female theory is that every episode, a male (Tuxedo Mask) comes to bail them out. It is always moral *and* physical support, instead of letting them do their thing. In view of this, it is possible that femenists wanted this show gone, as it showed the girls *needing* a man's help. Anyone think I may have a point? But I have a few problems with this one. Mainly, when Darian was taken hostage in the first series, who was there to help them? I know Moonlight Knight comes along, but the scouts fend for themselves most of the time. It's clear that they are the lead characters with Tuxy in the background. He doesn't go to their scout meetings or go out with them much at all. He has a car (because he's older. The outer senshi have a chopper (or so I hear)) and his own apartment. If you watch certain episodes like when Lita cleans Andrew's house (I think it was andrew) it shows that women know more and men are incompotent! Heck, most men in the show are in some way incompotent. The lead bad guys were bad guys in the first season. They were ruled by...get this...a woman! Tuxy has tons of touble with tons of stuff. Sailor Moon saved him from Zoycite in Crystal Clear Destiny. Tuxedo is usually there for distraction of the monsteroftheday and some words of encouragement....like these feminists claim men should be! Support the women and don't get in their way! Tux has never (at least from what I know) ever been able to defeat someone single-handedly. Ever. He's just a diversion or a Quick Fix to help Sailor Moon get back on track! I'm sorry I just ranted and I now realize this. I just don't get it. The scouts are not dependent on Tuxedo Kamen as others would like us to believe. He jumps in and DOESN'T save the day. He just helps ....usually very little except in pausing the action for the girls to recoup. All these people who believe that Sailor Moon is unable to stand on her own should just watch the R movie! Oh just forget it. He's not a scout. He's not as powerful as them. I don't get it..... -Sailor Sucky The thing about Darien and most of the males in Sailor Moon is the creator(I keep forgetting her name! Arrgh!) views it as guys aren't as important as girls to the storyline. You'll notice it's rare a girl gets killed quickly in the series.
