Alright....since both sides of this seeding issue have been vocalized pretty well, I'm gonna put my two cents in and then see what comes of it.... Personally, I don't care one way or the other....but I do tend to agree that seeding is a LITTLE bogus.  Why you ask?  For the simple fact that advancing to NAC is the only reason for Regionals.  Its that basic.  People who believe that there should be some sort of EXTRA reward for winning a Regional seem to forget the fact that they did in fact get a check that others who didn't do as well didn't get, which is thier reward for doing well...as for advancing to NAC, that is the reason for qualifying in the top 5 or 6 (depending on region).  There should in no way be a gift card for winning a region.  Once you reach NAC, every team that is there deserves the same chance at getting to the top.  Just because you didn't have a perfect semis or finals should not relegate you to playing the toughest schedule possible. As I stated in an earlier post, the reason that seedings were introduced into major sports was for television.  That's it.  There was no grand scheme that went along with fairness.  Back in the olden days of sports, before free agency, teams that got stacked stayed stacked.  That meant that it was easy to predict who would inevitably make the playoffs every year.  But beyond the 4 or 5 super stacked teams, you had those 3 or 4 that also had to get in.  Well, you couldn't let it happen that the good teams eliminate each other before the championship game, so they devised a way to help ensure that the good teams were around at the end....the seeding system.  Since the lesser teams were just happy to be in the playoffs, it didn't really matter if they were eliminated since they too probably believed they were only there for decoration.  The problem with trying to relate that to LQ is (aside from the obvious lack of TV audience) that when deciding that ratings were good for TV, you can't really decide who the deserving teams in the top of  a bracket should be.  Unlike the lesser teams of old, I don't think that any team comes to NAC just to be window dressing. Every team that is there should (i know some don't, but we're not one of them) believe they have a shot given correct circumstances.  I believe that there should be a way that a London (no disrespect) should be able to hope that Westland beats Brampton to let them into the playoffs.  Under the current system, that's not likely. Under the current system, you have teams advancing to the playoff and semis for winning games that they should be expected to win in the first place.  I'm sorry if a random schedule means that there is a chance that Phoenix puts both Denver and Austin out of the playoffs by winning a game, but there is no reason that a team that did what they had to to advance to NAC should have to feel like they have been put before a firing squad. I guess I look at it this way...the motto for NAC is If you want to be the Best of the Quest, You have to Quest with the Best. .  I believe that should go for all participants.  We get a random schedule at Regionals every year and end up with one of the 2 hardest schedules every time.  Do we bitch? Nope.....do you really think that we travel all the way we do for some tournaments just to play Denver...hell no, but we do it.  I think that by surviving a schedule that is that tough, we should be eligible for a supposedly easy NAC just like everyone else.  Seeding penalizes the lower ranked teams and gives TOO much reward to winning Regionals.  Like I said earlier, thats what most of us are there for to begin with, so the paycheck at the end is the added incentive.
