I've always bought and driven Chevrolets.  I've had 2 S-10's that went forever, [200K miles], never costing me a cent.  Until now.  My third S-10, 4x4 has been nickle diming me to death, and it seems to want to just keep on doing it.  I really got burned on this truck.  I've gotten them all used.  Guess my luck with them ran out. I don't believe I've ever seen a Nissan Frontier before today.  A used one for sale by a private owner.  Not sure what year, but newer. Maybe they haven't been as distinctive as this particular one, but it has a wide stance and fender flares.  Similar to a ZR-2.  I would expect members of this group to speak highly in favor of it over another S-10, but is it a good, proven little 4x4? (crossposting this over to the GM and Chevy folks...) What year is your S-10?  Do you have the 4.3L CPI engine? I delt with that one for 150K miles before I gave up. If you like Chevy trucks, I'd stick with them. Check into this website: www.s-series.org  There is a ton of information there. However, since your interested in a Nissan viewpoint I can give you this: I had a '87 which I drove for 125K miles and 11 years before giving it to a church. One buddy had the same model and drove it for 270K miles before the odometer broke and he sold it two years ago. Another buddy had an '88 and drove it well over 400K miles until last year when he decided to get a Jeep Wrangler. I can't speak to the 4x4 on the Nissans. I only hope they don't have that stupid actuator that my GMC had. (Ever have a truck suddenly go into 4x4 low while doing 60 on the freeway?) Kai

Try and find parts for a 10 or 20 year old nissan truck and then shop for Chevy parts. guess which one you can get parts for So far with me it's been Nissan because I've had more problems getting parts for Ford and Chevy than Nissan and Toyota, and I was surprised that the prices were sometimes cheaper for the Japanese makes, most recently $8 for a Nissan repair wiring connector vs. $30 for Ford's version.  A friend of mine needed a carburetor part for his Chevy Nova but had to get it from a Toyota dealer because Chevy quit stocking it (this was back when GM was still selling FWD Toyota/Chevy Novas) and wanted more for it anyway.  But Ford has been the worst for parts, and I had to make lots of repeat visits to the dealer garage because they usually had to order the part.
