Surely there must be someone in this N.G. that understands car financing that can provide a reasonable answer to this question. What benefit do car dealerships derive from 0.0% financing? Are there hidden costs where the bank actually makes its profit up front? Ultimately no matter how the loan is actually executed there is apparently a bank behind the final loan, so what possible motive would they have for allowing a loan at 0.0% since the premise is that the car is being sold on time payments without any interest involved. I tried researching this through google, but while I could find a lot of pages that contained ads from car dealerships that mention 0.0% financing the only other tidbit I could come up with were vague suggestions that not everyone qualifies for 0.0% financing - although it was short on specifics. One other site mentioned that that typically one must give up the manufacturer rebate to get the 0.0% rate and that a person must have perfect credit. That was all the information I could come up with. So, anyone have any insights to offer?
