for ALL or Y&R or BELL. P&Gers (ATWT, GL) had this basic discussion/disagreement about a month ago. I know it's Usenet Donna. I thought I was sending an email to my sis-in-law in England and somehow (still haven't figured out how) it went to RATSC instead . She was asking about the newsgroup because I had asked her a question about English Royalty and I figured message board would get the idea across as to what I was talking about. If I had known I was posting to the group, first of all I wouldn't have done it, but secondly, I definitely would have put a Y&R in the header. My mistake. ~Lindy~

Oh yeah! I forgot to mention that we give our own names to the characters. If you knew the characters it would make more sense but it is hilarious. See below: Y&R Nicknames: Just FYI, these are Usenet newsgroups, not message boards. And, I'd put a header acronym/abbrev. on but I can't tell if you were going for ALL or Y&R or BELL. P&Gers (ATWT, GL) had this basic discussion/disagreement about a month ago. And I'd just like to remind everyone that Donna B *doesn't* have control issues. LOL, nope, I sure don't. But, I'll go you one better & remind everyone that posting here is not meant to be about posters, to be ad hominem, ... Frankly, it doesn't matter if I have 7 green heads & one purple one & 3 rainbow striped arms, it only matters if I'm posting here about Soaps, about Usenet or the Newsgroup (_meta_ posts) or OT posts that are marked as such. Then, I'm in compliance with the FAQS, with Usenet and with the various precedents of the community in RATS. Again, I'd suggest that when you post this way you make it appear that you are the one who might have control issues, in wanting to try to control my posting behavior, whereas I'm not trying to control anyone's. Information is not control. On the other hand, you could have just let it go. I sure could have! Instead of passing information along, I could have just kept my mouth shut, since information is apparently a negative to some people. So, maybe once out of 'oh-I-don't-know several hundreds of times in a given week when 'letting it go' is my choice, I could have made that several hundreds plus one! But, I made my choice - and you want to change me & my choice, for some unknown reason. You, of course, could have just let it go, too. There are probably other hands, too, since just two perspectives seems a little short to me. Look, RH, if you've got a problem, why not just filter me out & take a break from me? This is stupid. Or, if not, take it to private email. It's important that people know & understand that Usenet is not Message Boards & what's different. It's important that we all try to put subject acronym/abbreviations on posts. If you have a personal beef with me, it's not important that it be a public one. YMMV. Nothing snipped.

I don't mean by that to be laughing AT you. But, the only times I've sent email to Usenet (also never figured out how those lines got crossed) it was both funny & perplexing & a little infuriating! Does your S-I-L watch any soaps?

It's important that people know & understand that Usenet is not Message Boards & what's different. I don't think so much anymore. It was meant to get the idea across to my sis-in-law in England. Not sure she would have understood if I had said Usenet . Message Board got the idea across and she knew exactly what I was talking about. Not even sure anyone in the USA knows what Usenet means anymore. The ISP's certainly don't. It's more of a I've been here longer than you and know exactly what Usenet is type of thing these days. Again, this was not meant to be posted to the group and I wish I could figure out how it was. It certainly won't happen again. ~Lindy~

It's important that people know & understand that Usenet is not Message Boards what's different. Re-reading this, *why* is it so important? Especially if you're just trying to give someone the gist of what you're talking about? What is the big deal? I mean it's not like you can tell someone to go to Usenet to see what you're talking about or join in. ~Lindy~

I don't filter people out. I don't e-mail people. All of what you think is so important is important to you. Your lecture didn't add one positive element to the discussion. You have this apparent need to pull out the rulebook every chance you get, and if you're that sensitive to having people poke fun at you for it, well, stop doing it so much. This is always and exclusively a public discussion forum for me.
