how to play the blues How many want to play the blues?

I'm not sure why my google posts didn't make it here, but I'll reiterate: I don't have a problem with blues p_layer_s. I have problems with people who play blues because they can't play anything other than a I-IV-V. There are certainly great blues p_layer_s. A lot of people see blues as easy to play, so that is all they play. 9 out 10 times I hear someone say, I'm primarily a blues p_layer_ , I find that they can't play, blues or otherwise. That's the p_layer_ that I get tired of. No groove, no sense of dynamics, no interest in learning more about the music he/she plays, no ears to play with the rest of the band. That's not the average blues p_layer_, that's the blues wannabe. Sorry if I had insulted anyone.

But playing or listening to 12 bar stuff over and over is about as boring as it gets. They might change the key, tempo and the turnaround but it is still the same thing over and over. Now Let's play Before you accuse me . Pt

I go to blues jams around my area every so often and I find those blues wannabes you mentioned frequent those places a lot. A lot of emphasis is on soloing and while I realize that's what a lot of people are there for, if the song sucks because of it, I'm just not interested. I'm more then happy to lay back if it contributes to the song and how the whole thing will turn out. Woah, I'm starting to get off the point of your posts. Anyway I agree with you. I guess its just amazing how much you see it and it's one of those things that drives me away from blues occationally.

That's if everyone gets a turn at it. That's not always the case. Additionally, some people are just there to play loud and aren't interested in learning anything or working with the rhythm section. You can be assured that any inexperienced p_layer_/singer who gets onstage with me at a blues jam will get appropriate solo time *and* will learn something about playing with others before getting offstage.
