Dell has today announced an expansion of its deployment services for its corporate line of desktops and notebooks. One of the main changes is that they will be offering what they call Weekend Notebook Exchange, which lets customers have existing data and files transferred to a new notebook with just a two-day turnaround. This might not seem that exciting to some of the regular readers of this site, but to a computer novice this is very useful stuff indeed.

Dell has also announced new products in the Dell Latitude D-family of notebooks. These are the D410, D610 and D810. These notebooks feature Tri-_meta_l chasses and magnesium alloy LCD covers, sealed keyboards that protect against spills, and separate Wi-Fi and Bluetooth LED indicators on the top of the keyboard. Dell Latitude kit is pretty cool stuff, so we recommend checking it out.

Dell Inc. announced today that it is expanding its deployment services for its corporate line of desktops and notebooks. Chief among those new service offerings is its Weekend Notebook Exchange, which lets customers have existing data and files transferred to a new notebook with just a two-day turnaround. Dell also introduced three new additions to the Latitude line of business notebooks ?all featuring the new Intel 915 Express (formerly Alviso) chipset, two new Dell Precision mobile workstations, and a corporate desktop with the new environmentally-friendly BTX motherboard.

ADVERTISEMENT The new products in the Dell Latitude D-family of notebooks?namely the D410, D610 and D810?feature Tri-_meta_l chasses and magnesium alloy LCD covers, sealed keyboards that protect against spills, and separate Wi-Fi and Bluetooth LED indicators on the top of the keyboard. They're all compatible with existing Latitude D-Family docks and accessories.

The new Precision models?the 4.88-pound M20 and 6.69-pound M70?include DDR2 and PCI-Express (PCIe) technology that Dell predicts will better meet the performance needs of design-intensive workstation applications, such as video-editing, 3D modeling and content creation, for users on the go.

Dell's Weekend Notebook Exchange is a service that transfers customers' existing data and files to a new notebook. Customers ship their old systems to Dell by a Friday and have their software images installed, data transferred and, in most cases, their new system shipped back to them on Monday. In addition, customers will receive market value for old notebooks they're returning to Dell with this service.
