Am looking for personal feedback regarding eating disorder clinics, esp. Renfrew, University of Iowa, Remuda, etc. Our 15-year old daughter with severe anorexia, depression, psychosis,..., spent 5 months at Menninger with no real positive results. That was a year ago. She's been in & out of children's hospital psych unit since.  She feels she's ready now to get serious in recovery.  Would appreciate recommendations.  Thanks much

     I spent two months in Remuda Ranch in Wickenburg, AZ last year. It was the best thing that I could have done for myself. I don't know how the adolescent unit is run, as I was 18 and on the adult unit. My experience, however, was beyond my wildest dreams. They are so kind, and responsive and the care is highly individualized. It is on a ranch setting where there is horseback-riding; which is very comforting during recovery, as horses are very soothing and gentle. They help bring some of that lost trust back. The ranch is Christian-_base_d, but there were some patients who were not Christian. It helps if you are, though, because there is a daily chapel.      As far as cost, my insurance paid for it, but I do know that it's quite expensive otherwise. I really hope that you'll consider looking into it.
