I have a 1989 Buick Regal CUSTOM,   with the 2.8l v6.  I have taken it to shops with no solution.  my problem.  The car tends to stall when driving in the city.  Under power or just idling.  doesn't matter.  When you restart the car it seems to have alot of black smoke out the back.  I just redid the plugs,  and computer doen't show any problem.  Anyone had this problem????? The car is Fuel Injected.    and I think my next option would be to change the fuel pump.  At least that is what the garage is trying to tell me.  I wish the car had a Carb.   I can work on a carb.  I hate Fuel Injection. arei <nospam@me wrote in message Sounds like to much fuel/not enough air.  If it had a carb I would say the choke was partially on. I had some serious problems with hesitation, and occasionally it would just stall.  I tried *everything* but changing the radiator cap. Everything electrical that could have *possibly* been connected to the problem was raplaced at some considerable cost.  The computer analyses showed nothing.  The trouble codes showed nothing.  I was ready to burn the stinking car. Finally after months of dead ends, the idiot light came on.  I was about to dump the car and forget about it since it was nickle and diming me to death.  The code showed the knock sensor being bad.  I nearly ignored it since I wasn't about to dump any more money into the car.  The dealer only wanted like $30 for it so I gave it a shot. Problem solved!  No more hesitation *or* stalling. Again, I'm not a mechanic, but if you're not showing any codes and the dealerships can't give you anything to search for, it might be worth a shot buying a new knock sensor and trying that one.
