Hit tonight in Concord NC. No warning, No sirens. I guess the Charlotte weathermen were too busy doing something else....I hate Charlotte did I ever mention that before I think I have a time or million or two. Concord receives it's television broadcasting from Charlotte (25 miles away) My son who lives in Concord was standing outside watching the torrential rains (they got 4 inches in less than an hour) when he felt the wind shift. A clear sign. He ran into the bathroom. When he came out and looked around he saw one place in his house flooded, then walked outside. He lives on a treed lot. Funny thing? Tomorrow morning he was having a tree crew come do $4,000.00 work of tree work....so he walks out...trees down all over the place, including one tree of his that split in half and half of the tree went thru his neighbors house. He called the tree guy and told him instead of coming tomorrow to trim the trees, he needed to come tonight and look at what had happened. Tree costs? $28,000.00 to clean up. 4 trees still standing but uprooted, and dozens more than need to just come down now. Not sure what all happened to the race track, if anything but the path of the storm was very evident to the police, sheriff and weather guys that have been to Concord already tonight. (this happened around 7pm or so). All confirmed it was a tornado. It came down Speedway Blvd..and cut thru the woods (not sure if it hit the big huge new high school or not yet, then went down my son's street, not sure how wide it was, or if it hit other streets, but my son said from what he can tell the whole community lost trees and has damage. There are several roads completely blocked with trees down. The electric was underground so he has electric and his cell phone works , but did lose his cable. Luckily his community is pretty much custom built brick homes back in the late 80's and 90's and are sturdy so no siding type damages. so....how's your night Jeezus it's time to go back to NE Ohio, sometimes I think I'd rather freaking shovel snow. Too dang stormy here in the South, too wet and floody in the Midwest, too cold and dreary in the NE and NW, and California is burning up again (along with parts of northwest NC) Is there anywhere safe or has decent weather in the USA this year? I find it ironic Charles and I live 50 miles apart and we've both been affected by tornado damage in less than 3 weeks. Albeit his is much more significant than mine was. And yes, I had tornado damage 3 weeks ago, but mine was much more insignificant than my sons. I just had one tree down right in the middle of my back yard. Lost some of my landscaping and missed a day of work. JOJO
