Since the two Dave's faltered on the desserts, I'll be gracious and lend my expertise here: : Dessert - Anything high in calories and sugar.  Pecan pie, chocolate pie, : peach pie (fried of course), pumpkin pie, ice cream (not ice milk) and : peanut butter fudge.  To try to rank this glorious collection would be : impossible, so I won't even try. It *DOES* make a difference - we're talking SOUTHERN cooking here.  There are two distinct dessert groups, plus one distinct dessert which was sent from heaven in the claws of a dove.  They are: 1) Pies - Apple is best.  Preferred serving includes a slice of cheddar cheese just under the top crust.  Peach is second.  Cherry should be viewed with extreme suspicion, because cherries don't grow in the South. Blueberry won't get you shipped north, but it could make people wonder. For blackberries, see next group. 2) Cobblers - When God kicked Adam and Eve out of the Garden of Eden, He gave them blackberries as a sort of consolation prize.  There is only one purpose for the noble blackberry, and that is for making cobbler. The cobbler should have a bottom crust, with blackberries covered by a top crust folded over on both sides.  The blackberry filling must be prepared in a cast-iron skillet, with 1 cup sugar for each 3-4 cups of berries, ssslllooowwwllyyy  cooked over low heat.  There is no other acceptable filling for a cobbler.  only blackberries. 3) Banana pudding - the true food of the Gods.  Must be fixed with vanilla wafers, *never*, *never* with graham cracker crumbs.  The wafers must be _layer_ed, with a row around the top edge of the pudding.  *Never*, *never*, *NEVER* use boxed vanilla or banana pudding as an ingredient. If you have to buy it already cooked: Popeyes spicy _style_ is great!  KFC and Lee's are OK if you don't mind the grease.  KFC used to not be so greasy.  What gives?  Did they start buying used cooking oil from The Varsity? +

3) Banana pudding - the true food of the Gods. As a little boy, when we read in the bible that manna came down from heaven, I thought surely they meant `nana pudding.  Maybe I was right. It is truly devine when properly prepared.
