Hi Folks, I tried to make chamomile oil with 40% Alc Vodka the week I left the first try the vodka is turned yellow, would that be the Chamomile oil? All I can get here locally is 40% proof vodka so thats why I am using only 40 proof. Also how long would the shelf life be for storing the vodka with oil in it or should I remove the oil from it? What is a regular shelf life for vodka by the way would anyone know? I have started this with chamomile because I have a bunch of flowers and like the scent. Would anyone know the medical values of chamomile? Thanks in advance Doug

Hi Doug~ What you've just made is a Chamomile tincture, or extract, which would turn yellow in this instance.  Let it macerate for at least another week to attain its full medicinal value.  By your mentioning Chamomile oil, I assume you're thinking about the essential oil, which is obtained by steam distillation

mmm, brandy. That is just a lovely idea. Reminds me of Drambuie (sp?) which always seems like it was Scotch to start and then had something kinda nice but weird soaked in it, know what I mean?
