garden center virginia Garden center personnel: sphagnum moss question
The world has changed. I have been to no fewer than four garden centers today, and not one of them carries Miracle-Gro 20-20-20 fertilizer. I'm starting to wonder if Miracle-Gro even makes a 20-20-20 fertilizer these days. In addition, at every single garden center, the staff has been absolutely baffled when I ask for sphagnum moss. Some immediately point to the sphagnum peat moss (which is, at least, technically correct). When I ask for sphagnum moss that isn't peat moss, they immediately think I'm talking about a) Spanish moss, or b) Oregon green moss. The reason I want sphagnum moss is in order to make some moss sticks or totems for a few Monsteras and a Scindapsis. Simple enough request. I'm convinced that Spanish moss won't work at all, and that the Oregon green moss is mainly used for decorating little craft projects like hanging baskets and model railroad train setups

Brandon, I have 2 huge bails of the stuff, I purchased from the Meyer Seed Company in Baltimore, MD. It's still out there and readily available, at least in my area.
