It's widely known that Chicago and Wisconsin Dells have had a long love affair when it comes to summer vacations. (A credit, perhaps, to memories of Tommy Bartlett in his pre-Thrill Show days as a radio and TV-show host of much popularity and appeal among Chicagoans, and (of course) the bumper sticker. ) True, the likes of the Gold Coast and North Shore are more than likely to take Lake Geneva, Door County and even Woodruff/Minocqua/Arbor Vitae for summer vacations, as if scorning the Dells for being, perhaps, too proletarian in its appeal. Which, perchance, makes me wonder which among Chicago's neighbourhoods are more than likely to take Wisconsin Dells when it comes to summer vacations. Obviously, I can guess it would include more working-class sections such as Wrigleyville, Bridgeport, Back of the Yards and Ravenswood. And also the black/Hispanic quarters of the South Side like Bronzeville, Altgeld Gardens, Cabrini/Green, Pilsen and Ida Wells/Robert Taylor Homes. Anybody know of other such Chicago neighbourhoods likely to find Wisconsin Dells attractive (or even traditional) vis-a-vis the summer vacation? (And especially such as cannot stand Great America because of cost and/or overdone Warner Bros. animations influences.) Hopefully, such could be an interesting Dellscussion right there!!! *************************************************************************** Sincerely, KAHUNA ACCIDENTALE OF THE DELLS (N.B. Spammers beware: Any and all spam E-mail sent me will now hold you liable to me in the amount of USD500. Further, any and all such specimens are forwarded to the proper channels.)

The artistes and hipsters of Wicker Park do not frequent the Dells because it is not quite degradingly cheesy enough.

Which, perchance, makes me wonder which among Chicago's neighbourhoods are more than likely to take Wisconsin Dells when it comes to summer vacations. Maybe you should ask in chi.general. Actually, I've always found Wisconsin Dells to be a shabby tourist trap, full of places to waste your money on activities that don't hold too many memories. ~~nancy~~ If you can dream it, you can do it

There are even hotels with indoor water parks there now. Les Mikesell

Just curious...what is up with these Wisconsin Dells posts that I am continuously finding in chi.general? If there is someone mentioning it - from Chicago - as a good place to go for a holiday AS A SINGLE POST, then I can see it. But these posts keep on coming, and seem to be a marketing post. Note: I have never been to Wisconsin Dells. Note: It is doubtful that I ever will visit Wisconsin Dells.
